I know my grandma made the best soup ever! My grandma, Julia Nagy, made soup that was so special, you got well almost overnight! Too bad she isn't alive today to bottle those fabulously delicious soup recipes. Her special soup du jour depended on the time of year. She'd make a wicked chicken soup with homemade noodles. Then there was her butter soup with caraway seeds! And, not to forget her ham and bean soup. Yumm!

P.S. Well, grandma is gone now ... so my soup du jour happens to be Cream of Asparagus! How about you? What is YOUR soup du jour? Ah soup! Just the mention of the word evokes nostalgic memories of grandma's home cooking. Didn't it seem that grandma could make a pot of the best-ever soup out of literally any leftover or bone?

Delicious She Crap Soup Recipe from JaguarJulie

Delicious She Crab Soup Recipe
4 tablespoons butter
2 stalks of celery finely chopped
2 green onions finely chopped
2 tablespoons flour
2 cups milk
1-1/2 cups whipping cream
1 cup fish stock
1-1/2 pounds she crabmeat gently flaked
1/4 cup sherry
Spices to taste: black pepper, salt and Hungarian paprika



Directions: In your favorite pot for cooking soup, first melt the butter. Add the chopped celery and green onions, letting them saute slowly until just tender. Slowly add in the flour, stirring until you have a smooth mixture. Gently stir in the milk, whipping cream and fish stock. Allow your mixture to blend together on the low heat. The best part is adding the flaked crabmeat and sherry. Do not boil, but allow your she crap soup to simmer. Add spices to suit your taste — black pepper and salt with a dash of Hungarian paprika on top when serving.

I’ve written another post specifically devoted to this soup. It’s a Lobster Bisque Soup available in Publix.

When I was visiting my mom in Brooksville, Florida, it was Thanksgiving. She had prepared a traditional turkey and other fixings. I opted to supply some of this soup.

It is one of the most fabulous and rich tasting soups that I’ve ever purchased from my local grocery store. It honestly tastes like the kind you might get in expensive restaurants.

In August 2012, I blogged about this soup by Progresso, Chicken Cheese Enchilada Flavor. It is not everyday that I come upon a soup that is worthy of buzzing about.

I’ve already tried this soup on some Basmati rice. It is thick and hearty and goes over rice quite nice.

Or, you can try it by itself. I’ve kicked it up a notch by adding some cayenne pepper.

Here is another soup that I had to stop and blog about! It is Campbells Butternut Squash Bisque Soup. It is the type of soup that really surprises you!

I’d never hat a butternut squash soup before. Normally, I love this squash at the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Who seriously knew that you could pack a ton of taste into a can?

This soup has got the most buttery and nutty taste that you will want to lick the bowl. And, give it a smell too! Delicious, I say!!

Lobster Bisque Soup

I absolutely love Classic Creamy Lobster Bisque Soup! I Got Mine @ Publix and OMG, it is slightly decadent, definitely delicious, and perhaps out of this World! You know, I am sitting here experiencing the unique and awesome taste of that lobster bisque soup ... it keeps playing over and over on my taste buds memories.

Classic and creamy Lobster Bisque soup from Publix! I surely do think that I died and went to heaven! I am experiencing something that is truly out of this world; loaded with OMG F-L-A-V-O-R!!! I tell you folks, I cannot make a Lobster Bisque Soup that is any better than the kind that I can buy at my local Publix! No sirreee Bob.

Here is the proof about what I am talking about! Take a look at that picture ... Publix Lobster Bisque! You know, I actually bought two of these packages. I was shopping at Publix for something special for New Years Eve and New Years Day. When I saw that the lovely people of Publix had put their Lobster Bisque on sale, 2 for $7.00, well, I was on IT! I bought 2 -- so that Mom, Al and moi, could experience a little bit of heaven with our New Years Day meal.

P.S. Folks! First of all, one package normally sells for $4.99 -- so I'm not buying that everyday. Secondly, hmmm! The carton says 1 serving is 520 calories with total fat of some 46 grams! Holy Smokes, that is DECADENT!

Publix Lobster Bisque Soup heating instructions

Heating Instructions:
1. Remove tamper evident plastic film from soup tub and discard.
2. Place soup tub on microwave safe plate in center of microwave.
3. Heat for 60 seconds. Stir.
4. Continue heating in 30-45 second increments until desired temperature is reached.
5. Caution: Product will be hot — carefully remove soup tub from microwave on plate.
6. Let stand for 1 minute — serve and enjoy!
